    • Trivia
Chevy Chase hosted via satellite from NBC's studios in Burbank, California from the set of 'The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson'. Chase explains that he missed his flight to New York. This was the only time that the host did not appear on stage.
    • Goofs
During the fake commercial for Galactic Prophylactic, one of the musclemen seen earlier in the sketch crosses in front of the camera blocking Eddie Murphy.
    • Quotes

Chevy Chase: I was so... moved... and honored... uh... when they asked me to host this season's, uh... very first show. I don't know what to say, I'm almost in tears! But I was, uh, somewhat surprised to find, uh, that the show is still, uh... well... still done live from New York City. I'm happy. It's my town, and it's my people. And we're still giving great comedy from the Big Apple, great comedy right from the Big Apple out to the little fruits there in Hollywood. Huh!

    • Alternate versions
Network reruns remove The Web commercial parody and Joe Piscopo's announcement of Don Pardo's return to the show.
