At times it is difficult for posters to have a sense of humor and see the excellence of a script like this one. The writers found a unique and interesting subject and wrote a terrific story around it. This HH episode is very funny and watchable on every level.
There is really little about certain reviewers who have no life and write a million and one uninteresting, uninsightful, and outright boring reviews as though they have any unique or knowledgeable take on any of what they apparently spend their lives watching. I guess they think if their screenname is seen enough, it will make others believe they are experts. Mr. Goodwatch is a prime example of this. Sad. Should have passed on that review.

At times it is difficult for writers to come up with enough scripts for the entire season. And in this episode it is quite obvious that the writers are grabbing at any subject tossed about. This episode has a chimpanzee, that has escaped from the local zoo, coming into camp. Hogan's gang will think of a way to use the ape for the Allied effort.
There really is little about this episode that is interesting. A monkey arrives in camp and the trainers make the animal perform some basic tricks, that has been done thousand of times before, all for the supposed entertainment of the viewer. There were a few funny lines but no real story in this production. I guess, by the end of the season, any thought can be made into an episode. This proves it.

- TriviaThe sign outside of Hogan's barrack is legible in this episode, it reads: "VERBOTEN. 1. Strict orders have been given to the German troops around Brussels to shoot any civilian cyclist. 2. People who, after the fifteenth of December, are still in possession of carrier pigeons, as well as all other persons, who by signals or any other means, cause annoyance to the German military interests, will be judged by courtmartial. BRUSSELS, DECEMBER 14, 1944. The Chief of Military Police. H. HEINRICHS, Captain"
- GoofsDuring the various radio conversations, the submarine commander and/or British officer specifically states "Stalag 13", Col. Hogan, Carter and the Underground. This would not have been done due to concern of exposing Hogan's operation.
It is stated in the program that they are not transmitting in code. So, using names and locations is not unreasonable, even if it is a dumb thing to do.
- Quotes
Sgt. Hans Georg Schultz: But don't let the commandant see the monkey.
Cpl. Peter Newkirk: Monkey, Schultz? Freddy is a chimpanzee. He's very sensitive about that.
Sgt. Hans Georg Schultz: Oh, I'm sorry, Freddy.
- Crazy creditsThe chimpanzee does not appear in the credits.
