    The seven-year itch.

Matthew tries his hand at playing Cupid, arranging for his mother Sue to pay a visit, the scene is set, the romantic music is playing, only neither is happy to see the other.

A fine end to this cracking first series, it was a nice surprise to see John Thaw's real life wife Sheila Hancock playing Sue, definitely a degree of chemistry is evident.

There's a funny, bittersweet feel to this one, you can really appreciate Henry's bitterness and anger.

Sue isn't the most pleasant of people, you can see why the pair didn't work together.

Favourite scene had to be Sue encountering Mrs Thompson, her jealousy was amusing.

It's been a very enjoyable first series, and this is a strong conclusion, it gives you a real sense of how the pair ended up in this situation.

    8/10.
