"... he's reverting to his original form...."

The Invaders is a good premise for a TV show, in that every episode is like pressing a reset button; there still isn't any proof and the next episode can use a whole new cast to tell a whole new story. In this respect it has a similar structure to other popular series like 'the fugitive' in which the only common themes are the main protagonists.

In this episode we see that rare thing, someone that doesn't want to kill every Alien in sight, almost on principle. The cast is well-chosen in this case; Barbara Barrie (you may have later seen as 'Mom' in Breaking Away, and Pte Benjamin's Mom again) and Richard Anderson (countless TV appearances) were both veterans of TV before they did this show and both went on working in film and TV for decades afterwards; safe hands for this episode indeed.

This is an above average episode of the series, different in that it involves more personal contact between Vincent and the Aliens, and maybe a better understanding of what their motivations are.

Eight out of ten from me.

Richard Anderson: The Sick Alien In Need Of Help

Richard Anderson plays a sick alien. His saucer has crashed on earth and he seeks the help of a human female who warms to him. Vincent soon appears.

The first half of this Robert Butler directed episode is a bit slow and dull but it picks up in the second half when we see an "invader" like we have never seen an "invader" before. The lighting in the second half of this hour is of motion picture standard and I guess we have Butler to thank for that. Butler really knew his stuff as he directed the outstanding two-part pilot to Batman (1966) and Star Trek's The Cage (1965)

As you can see, season two of this series is going in all sorts of creative directions, but it is too bad we are missing the wonderful music of season one. But the season two music is okay.

This is the only episode in which an Invader is clearly seen in his true form.
    • Goofs
When Gale first takes the alien in there is a shot of her taking it's pulse. It's been established on earlier episodes that the aliens have no pulse or heartbeat.
    • Quotes

Narrator: [Opening Narration] For two days, planes have crossed and re-crossed the Utah wilderness, searching for some clue to the fiery object witnesses swore plunged from the sky. But the planes find nothing and the investigation is called off. Only one man continues the search. For somewhere in the forbidding mountains may be the remains of an alien spacecraft.
