    Connection to Syracuse?

Once again, Syracuse is mentioned. The "teleconference" with Edgar Scoville has his "office" in Syracuse. Does anyone know who has a connection to the city?

    Overall, not s bad episode.

Known To Some As "The Only Invaders Show With Black People"

Vincent gets involved with black people in his attempts to find "the invaders".

When thinking about reviewing this episode, at first I was not even going to mention the sudden appearance of black people, but it must be mentioned as this is what viewers respond to.

YouTube has put all the Invader episodes up, most of the shows got few comments under the videos, but when The Vise came up, comments all over the place! Some black people were bothered that this was the only "black episode" and that next week the series would go back to being "all white" again.

But anyway, let me move on from this now.

To me at least, The Vice is a rather routine episode of The Invaders, I can't see anything special about it to talk about here. You just follow the plot and enjoy it.

I would call The Vice good but not great.

    Episode about race...

This entry penned by the great William Blinn, who wrote Brian's Song, Starsky & Hutch, Roots episodes, and Purple Rain poses the question: are we black, white or simply "human"? In it we have a black alien who accuses a black investigator of being a traitor to his "race". Which race, he responds, black or human? Heady stuff for 1968, when you consider MLK, Jr. was killed later that same year. This episode like the Rev. King was an attempt to show us we should unite against our mutual enemy, in this case, invaders seeking to enslave and control us! Many wonderful black actors of the day appeared in this episode. Watch and see if you can spot them and recall their other roles of note.

    • Trivia
Throughout the series, many objects are incinerated along with aliens who burn up as they die. This episode has the first of only two instances when a burning alien starts an actual, ordinary fire by his death.
    • Goofs
The post opening credit scene references hearings in Washington DC. However David Vincent is shown walking past the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion as well as palm trees which shows that the scenes are filmed in Los Angeles.
    • Quotes

Arnold Andrew Warren: I'm trying to say as politely as I know how that you're not being very loyal to your race.

James A. Baxter: Which race is that? Negro or human?

    • Crazy credits
In the ending credits Boyd "Red" Morgan as the station attendant was listed as Red Boyd Morgan.
