The very reason you needed take notice in English lessons.

Who killed Esra Carr? A talented, but aloof Ghost writer who is found dead, looking out of a window at his remote house, Ghost Forge.

This is another fine episode, it's a good story, it's cleverly crafted, and features some great characters. Jim Bowen is funny without needing to say a word, Duggie Dawson was a funny character. Anything is worth watching that has the wonderful Lysette Anthony, she doesn't disappoint as the annoying Mimi.

It's clever, one of those mysteries where so much more is happening than appears on the surface. You think you're getting a straightforward locked door mystery, when in fact you get something way more complicated and devious.

The noises from the band add a few laughs.

    Very good, 8/10.

Towards the end, Adam is wearing a "shirt" featuring Japanese writing whilst talking to Duggie Dawson. Duggie tells Adam that the writing reads "I am full of sh*t". The symbols on the shirt are Japanese but they are mirrored. It translates as "lie" (or "exaggerate").

Unless, of course, the decedent requested the cheerier bit first as part of their funeral arrangements.

In the final scene a funeral procession is going by Maddie's flat with a brass band playing an uptempo piece while walking in front of the coffin. Uptempo music is only played at a jazz funeral on the way back from the cemetery. Only a slow dirge is played while escorting the coffin to the cemetery.
