    NOT a plot hole

The previous reviewer claims a plot hole about the lift. He says that the delivery men run away after Maddie tells them that there is no lift to the fourth floor flat.

Maddie doesn't say (to the delivery men) there is no lift, she says the wardrobe won't fit in the lift.

This is why Maddie and Shelford are struggling to get the wardrobe up the stairs giving Zola plenty of time to take the lift and avoid them.

There are quite often areas of uncertainty in these episodes however this isn't one of them.

Always a good idea to re-watch an episode if you are going to make disparaging comments like this.

    A very clever mystery.

How on Earth can someone suspected of murder, the plastic fantastic Zola Zbzewski, end up dead in Maddy's new wardrobe.

It's a very clever episode, plastic surgery is as contentious an issue now as it was back then, it makes for a great story, a 1997 retelling of Frankenstein. It's a complex mystery, but it's tight, such is the writing, that all of the events and occurrences are perfectly feasible. The solution comes as a surprise, but it's great.

Kika Mirylees is excellent as Zola Zbzewski, she's very smart, and it's her acting and appearance that are key to the success of the episode. An actress I always associate with Bad Girls.

    Very good, 8/10.

    • Trivia
Nigel Planer, who plays Maddie's unsuccessful blind date, reappears in Jonathan Creek 16 years later as victim Franklin Tartikoff in the 2013 special, The Clue of the Savant's Thumb.
    • Goofs
Just before Maddy opens the wardrobe door when it is in her apartment, she turns the key in the lock on the wardrobe door to unlock it. This is incompatible with the explanation of the mystery that Jonathan gives in the denouement.
