    My friend

We meet the town banker in this episode. Note: This episode on the DVDs is way out of order.

In this episode, Mr. Sprague comes to town. He is a hard-nosed banker who doesn't want any friends - and doesn't need anything...or so he thinks. But when Laura and he run into each other at the creek, they soon take up a friendship. It turns out that fishing is now more exciting for Laura. They fish together, then he gives her a ride back to...well, I guess into town or something.

But soon, Nellie tells Laura that her new friend is none other than the town banker. Nobody likes him. He ticked Harriet Olsen off, he pretty much told Charles and Caroline no on to separate banking issues. And nobody seemed good enough to get a smile - except Laura.

But the story turned out okay. In the end I suppose everybody got what they wanted, and one person got what he didn't think he needed.

    Laura Saves the Day!

This episode has really grown on me. It really takes a look how a person can become a skeptic and view the world in a negative light. The banker, Mr. Sprague comes to town and denies loans to everyone.....even Mrs. Beadle who wanted a loan to purchase new books for her school. .....until Laura makes a breakthrough.....the message is strong...."sometimes people just want to be a friend.....no strings attached" In the end Mr. Sprague changes his ways. The school gets their books! Beautiful story!

    Laura you darling!!

This episode introduce yet another new character The new banker Ebenezer Sprague. When we meet him him comes upon as stuck up and mean He doesn't even want to make a donation to buy school books. He snipped at everyone Including:Charles,Caroline,Harie t and even poor little luara. Well at first she didn't know it was the banker until later. This another episode where Laura fix and makes a mean/troubled person hart soften like just she can!! This is a pretty good episode and it has a good lesson. Never judge a book by its cover!!! Memrobile scene:mr sprague Telling Laura this story on their way back home and Laura's mouth just hangs open and says:"oh my goodness"

Continue to the next half of season 2 Little house on the prairie!!

    Enjoy!

    • Quotes

Ebenezer Sprague: Young lady, I have been fishing for more years than you have been alive! My lures are perfect for this area, and I've read all the books on the matter!

Laura Ingalls: Well, maybe the problem is that the fish just haven't read the books.
