    jealously

I don't like this episode it is on my list of the worst little house episodes. And I also don't like the way Sarah Carter is in this episode she's just a little B*#!h by being jealous of that poor old lady and starting to judge her when she doesn't even know the whole story. Thinking that she is trying o steal little Jason away from her.this episode mainly turns around the carter family almost like "sins of the fathers" although I don't like the carters that much the other episodes are fine but Overall this episode is boring and I don't like it.P.S I like the laura and almonzo episodes bet. another P.S when your child give's you a birthday present you don't tell him that you can't accept it because he did not pay the right price for it. Sarah carter was just awful here!!!

    Véra Miles

One of my favorites. I really liked the friendship between little Jason and the elegant Ruthy. Vera Miles is a great actress.

The Ingalls would have made this a 10/10

Mrs. Sarah Carter really screws the pooch in this episode. If Caroline Ingalls was still playing "Ma", she would have accepted the gift and then done her homework about Ms. Ruthy Leland and found out about why she is being so generous. Even if she did not find out the personal, pressing reason for Ms. Leland's extra generosity - because she seems like a kind, generous lady regardless of her extenuating circumstances - Ma Ingalls would not have treated Ruthy with such immediate contempt at their first meeting. Regardless of the "Ma", she should have checked her out before her little boy worked for the unknown woman. Thank goodness for Dewey! I never liked Sarah Carter even if she hadn't replaced Caroline, and she lives up to that dislike in what should be a slow but sweet episode. Even in the end, Sarah still had not made up for her mistake. The actress playing Ruthy is excellent! It seems guest stars saved quite a few Season 9 episodes!

    Still Heartwarming

Although I'm also not a fan of the Carters or how the mother acted in this episode, this was still a light and heartwarming one that this lackluster season didn't have a lot of. It reminded me of the early episodes of the series when young Laura would befriend someone elderly and have this nice bond with them.

I'm only in my 30's but even I can recognize that cross-generational bonding isn't something we're going to see a lot of anymore in this digital age where kids can't be away from screens long enough to get to know their elders and build relationships like this.

The actress who played Ruth was excellent and it was nice to get an episode to get familiar with the youngest Carter. Solid episode to me even if I miss the original characters.

    The Carters

I love watching the reruns of Little House (it has a channel on ROKU TV) but must say the addition of the Carter family did nothing for the show in my eyes. I never got use to Sarah and John because they were a pretty boring couple. I found Sarah's behavior in this episode very irritating. First of all, they should have met with Ruthie prior to Jason doing any work for her. Secondly, the way Sarah rejected her son's gift was a horrible response from a parent to a child. I'm sure Caroline would have responded differently and Charles would have spoken up if she didn't. I would have loved to have seen Charles and Caroline age in Walnut Grove and have stories written around them as they aged (instead of having them move away). I'll continue to watch because I have many favorite episode (this was no one of them).
