ONE OF THE BETTER LATTER "WALTONS" EPISODES

David W. Harper was a pretty good sulky type actor. He seemed like he WASN'T acting--which is the whole point.

This episode had the feel of pre-1978 "Walton" shows. Jim Bob falls for a future nun,but anyone new on Walton's Mountain was an immediate target for SOMEONE'S affection. Everyone must have been so sick of the same ol' same ol' that it's like a pack of starving dogs waiting for food.

    Anyways,a good episode.

    Eight stars.

    Nuns and wedding rings

Nuns are not, and were never allowed to marry. Most orders wear wedding rings to signify their vows to God.

    A Married Nun?

I wasn't aware that nuns were able to marry in the 1930s. In every scene Jeanette Nolan appears playing Sister Scholastica, a wedding ring can be seen. How could the directors not have seen that?

Narrator: [narration as John 'John Boy' Walton, Jr. reading from his journal] Our years of containment as a family unit were growing to a close in 1941. Everywhere there was a new mobility. New and different people found their way to Waltons Mountain to touch and shape the lives of our family, bringing customs and beliefs that were foreign to us. One such encounter had a special meaning for my brother, Jim Bob.
