    One of My Favorite Episodes

I think Linda Purl is a very good singer. I liked her character and I think she did a great job with it. In watching her scenes with Jon Walmsley, I get a lot more depth from her character than from his. As far as her accent is concerned, being from the north myself, I guess I don't know phony when I hear it. But perhaps viewers are comparing her accent to the entire Walton clan who have no hint of an accent, and so she appears over the top. My first thought was how is it that her brother Curt has absolutely no accent of any kind, and her accent is so extreme? Were they not raised in the same part of the country? With the huge age difference, maybe she should have been his niece from Georgia instead of his sister from where ever Curt is from.

    i liked it

I had to chime in because so many reviews were in my opinion too hard on this episode and Linda Purl. First of all, just being able to look at Linda Purl is worth the price of admission. She was absolutely beautiful in this episode, and her character had a charming way. Not a bad story line, I tend to like the Waltons episodes that have some romance going on. Probably because I yearn to be young again and live vicariously through the characters. I thought it was an ok episode and it held my attention. I didn't mind Linda Purl's acting or her character's accent or at all. Worth a watch if you like feminine beauty and romance. High-five to Jason!

    No "there" there

I've written previously that I consider Ralph Waite the finest actor in the whole cast. He was simply a natural in the role of John Walton.

I'm not sure if the failure of this episode was primarily Ralph Waite the director, or the script itself. Or possibly both.

Linda Purl's southern accent was just too much. Way too much. The plot itself just seemed to drag endlessly. I could find nothing in this episode to make me want to hold on.

A very unusual failure for a 5th season episode of this stellar series.

    Worst episode in my opinion

I love every episode I have seen so far but this one is just not good. And it is for no other reason than guest star Linda Purl - sorry Linda if you ever read this but your acting was terrible and that accent......yikes! All the regulars are the only reason I gave it one star because they were amazing.

    Linda Purl was atrocious

Watch this episode only if there is literally nothing else on the entire plant to watch. Linda Purl was so horrible in her role as Curt's sister that the episode is unwatchable. Her southern accent is beyond false, making every one of her scenes FF material.

Narrator: [narration as John 'John Boy' Walton, Jr. reading from his journal] On Waltons Mountain the marriage vows, once pledged, usually remained in force until the contract was ended by the death of one of the partners. Divorce was a taboo word spoken in whispers. And then one day, a young woman who had left her husband appeared on the mountain, with serious consequences for my brother, Jason.
