The scene at Godsey's when John Boy buys silk thread for Olivia Ike tells him the total for his order is $10. Ike should have said ten cents. However, there are many times Ike exaggerated the order total. He would say the total was 97 dollars instead of 97 cents. The family would just go along with it and pay him instead of correcting him.
