A Show That Is Trying To Survive Just Like John

Here's a show that just ran too long. This movie seems more like a retrospective on the series. Flashbacks from older episodes would have helped with all the recollections. I marked this episode a little higher since its heart is in right place as usual. It's not the same having Olivia's cousin and her grandchildren in the house. I didn't miss seeing the fake John Boy in this one. Story even seemed a rehash of earlier story lines. John is always having trouble finding good help. And yes the man likes to shun responsibility from time to time. And others get caught up in his carousing. Even the pool playing has been done better in earlier episodes. Of course we knew that already.

    • Quotes

Narrator: [narration as John 'John Boy' Walton, Jr. reading from his journal] As the Second World War raged on in Europe and the Pacific, those of us on Waltons Mountain were adjusting to the quickened pace of wartime living. Our family was enjoying a degree of prosperity previously unknown, but our changing fortunes were bringing changing values. And so it was to my father, whose strength had always been an unquestioned source of assurance, that the pain of doubt and uncertainty would come.
