Desperate for ratings

After watching the entire seasons over the past two years or so, I am disappointed with season 9. I think the best family drama should have ended at season 8. Unless I missed something, but where are Geoffrey and his Sister? Rose came to live with the Waltons with the children and now they're gone? Doesn't add up to me.

During a meal at the end of the conversation about Jim Bob wanting to buy army surplus, Jim Bob picks up a plate and he is taking the last piece of meat off it. When the shot changes he no longer has the plate in his hands.
