Among the worst episodes of this otherwise great show

A lot of plot lines that go absolutely nowhere. The episode of 'The West Wing Weekly' podcast about 'Ninety Miles Away' is better than the episode itself.

    • Trivia
Fidel Castro is the only real-life current head of state to be portrayed on The West Wing. All other on-screen presidents and prime ministers have been fictional characters, while only a handful of others (Queen Elizabeth II, Yasser Arafat) have been mentioned.
    • Goofs
Charlie Young engages with entomologists to solve a problem with termites in the White House; the entomologists claim that their work can help uncover secrets of the past in the internal walls and woodwork of the White House.

The White House was completely gutted inside during the administration of Harry S Truman in order to deal with sagging floors and unstable ceilings. Nothing inside the White House of any importance, including any interior walls, floors, and ceilings, is original - it was all replaced and rebuilt to match closely with the White House people remembered.
    • Quotes

C.J. Cregg: You sure the country's ready for this?

Jed Bartlet: Who knows who's gonna be sitting here next? Who knows what will happen after Castro? All I know for sure is there's a moment here. Before I'm gone and he's gone, I am not going to let it pass.
