Meredith plays an absent-minded heavy who is saddled with two sons who are dumb as a box of rocks. As much as I normally love WWW's crazy plot twists with megalomaniac world conquerors, this one falls as flat as Orkney Cadwallader (Meredith)'s plot to seize control by causing earthquakes.
In addition to his sons, he has a daughter who is clever, but is also preoccupied with finding a proper suitor. She spends most of her time either fawning over West or wanting to kill him. There's no love lost on her father, either, whom she sees a limiting the number of potential beaus.
Most of the early episodes were well written, but this one fizzles out like wet dynamite.

- TriviaSome of the frames in the earthquake scene near the end originally appeared in Conquest of Space (1955), Ross Martin's film debut. In that film, the quake occurs on Mars near the end of the movie.
- GoofsAt the opening, Artemus and Jim are standing at the hitching post in a deserted town, where Artemus finds a flyer that warned the citizens to leave town before the sun is "at its summit" on June 5. Artemus comments that it's the fifth, and looks upward at the sun, saying, "And guess where that sun is," prompting Jim to look upwards at the sun too. Then they walk away from the hitching post, and the sunlight is coming almost directly in front of them, casting long shadows as it only would at sunrise or sunset.
- Quotes
Orkney Cadwallader: I hate clever men!
Faith Cadwallader: I hate you, father!
Orkney Cadwallader: That's a very healthy symptom, my daughter! When you can transfer those violent emotions from me to a suitable young man, your future happiness will be assured.
Faith Cadwallader: [Exasperated] Father!
Orkney Cadwallader: You know, earlier you were Antigone, and now you've become Electra. You've run the whole gamut of Greek drama!
