Why do I keep giving "Power rangers" a chance?..

I guess, to answer the review title's question, it would've felt like a project not fully completed to not give a whirl to the two "Power rangers" serieses that I'd put into my watchlist first, that'd been the ones to actually inspire me to skim through the entire franchise. This was the first "PR" episode I watched (outside of some vague, unremembered snippets from childhood), and it surprised me how watchable and non-cringe it was - outside of the intro, at least. Rewatching it, I found that I gave a pass to a few continuity errors or plotholes the first go-around, bringing the score one or two points down. Thing is, though, "PR" pilots tend to be some of the best episodes, in my experience, exactly because they have the least of the stale, lame "PR" formula in them. So here, meeting the hilarious, charismatic characters; hearing their really fun banter brought about by their personality clashes; seeing the cool, superpowered fight - all of that elevated the experience above the drudgery that is actually committing to watching a "PR" series.

    • Trivia
Conner says "Dude, the guy's a teacher, not Batman!" and scoffs at the idea that an item in Tommy's study could reveal a hidden cave (which turns out to be true). The Batman's Batcave entrance with a hidden switch in Bruce Wayne's study was most famously shown in the 1966 series. It is significant that Conner delivered that line; Jimmy Napes, who plays Conner, is the great-grandson of Alan Napier, who played Alfred in Batman (1966).
