    Decent but Mindane

A woman is found, burned in her car. She is traced to family where the father is no in witness protection. He is on the run for a while. The case involves a company that was selling defective military gear that has allowed 30 soldiers to lose their lives in war. The maker of the equipment, the one he blew the whistle on, is being investigated and a grand jury is being impaneled. It appears that the company has had the man's little boy kidnapped. At one point he is mutilated. This gets Boon's goat. Brennan remains icy but gets his fears. In a subplot, the gang at the Jeffersonian are being screened for loyalty. She is having an awful time getting answers.

    Good Father Instincts

This is another good episode where Booth and Brennan work well together fighting and finding justice. This one, like the refrigerator one, is a rare one where the "who done it" is figured out pretty quickly. Instead of looking for a bad guy, the team is looking for a little boy. This hits close to home for Booth, who is a father of a young boy himself...

After watching the entire series (up through near the end of season 11), I find it interesting that Brennan declares rather adamantly that she will never have children. It's nice to see how much her character evolves over the years!

And of course, there's some chemistry in play.

I questioned the care seat in the police SUV for two reasons: 1. His son is five years old, isn't he? therefore, he doesn't need a car seat - but a booster seat. 2. Why do we see a car seat now but then B & B have two children, we never see one? Just wondering...

    Great one

Another good one. Everybody had major involvement in the case Just the tactical part bugs me sometimes.. Bones usually just ignores what Booth says and storms inside ahead of him and of course, nothing happens or she kicks the guys asses.. that was pretty much a recurrent event but annoying nonetheless.

Not the best episode, but far from the worst

This episode is more about character development than about the specific story, I think. Fortunately this show does character development very well.

The investigator who was brought in acts as a foil for the unique traits of each character to play off, and they each do it brilliantly.

Despite my first paragraph, there's also no shortage of action and plot, with the usual twists and turns to be found in any episode of the show.

I'm very confused by the previous commenter who said that the main team were being interviewed by a shrink - a State Department investigator is hardly just a shrink, and I think that goes to show how valuable the previous comment is. If you post a comment in here, please be familiar with what you're talking about.

    Fluff Episode

Starts with a burned body in a car and the rest relies on the viewers I saw this episode as a, fill in the blanks to the ultimate rescue of a boy.

The process of creating a story starts from the end, but this story started from the middle, or the process, and assumed the end.

The story begins with a burned body in a car.

The story rambles on evidence, assumptions and drama.

    There's not much connection.

But just like I rambled on,

    so did this story.

The hip hop episode had a story, this episode just contained filler.

    This was a fluff episode

    • Trivia
According to Noah Hawley, the writer of the episode, the main idea of the episode was that the characters would get to save a person's life by using their skills, whereas in most of the series' episodes they find a dead body, then investigate the death. Hawley also wanted to raise Booth's stakes in this case, then give him the chance to take some real action and save a boy's life not just based on his expertise as an investigator and a sniper, but also as a father. In addition, the security review conducted on the characters in the episode was used to explore each person's quirks and create possible scenarios that played against who the audience thinks they are.
    • Goofs
Brennan says that the television interview was her first. She had been interviewed for television (with Penny Marshall) in the previous episode, The Woman at the Airport (2006).
