I find it this episode very below the law... the whole team is obviously ignoring the black boss and he is rightly pissed off but i think he has faith in his team to get the job done in spite of obstacles ... the son seeking his father is a lamer ...

    The true crime

A plan crash isn't the center of Brennan's investigation. She finds three bone fragments that don't belong with the crash and longs to learn who they belong to. A man believes they are from his missing father. So after Brennan overrides her boss's orders and directs her three helpers to focus on the other case, they sneak around to find the truth.

Brennan and Booth have rather interesting talks. Though Booth accuses Brennan of missing him, it's obvious the feeling is quite mutual. Booth constantly pulls her into the field with him to help him solve the case.

The young man looking for his father plays on Brennan's sympathies by bringing up the fact that her parents are also missing. This infuriates Booth. You can just see his protective instincts clashing with his trying to stay objective.

B & B share a rather intimate look at the end that's interrupted by Zack, who is happy his and Booth's "friendship" is back on track.

    Disrespect for Dr. Goodman

I never liked Hodgins. He was always incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful of everyone, but especially of Dr. Goodman, his African-American supervisor. Dr. Goodman was the director of the Jeffersonian, and TJ Thyne/Hodgins was always very dismissive and sarcastic towards Dr. Goodman. It honestly seemed very racist to me.

In this episode, there is a private plane full of Chinese embassy officials that crashes. Five people are identified, but there are six bodies. The US Secretary of State wants to know who #6 is, as it may have been a spy. Dr. Goodman wants this to be the priority for the team, so that the dead person can be identified, and his family contacted. Brennan and the rest of the team blow him off, in a sign disrespect for Dr. Goodman's authority, and unprofessionalism on their part.

Big Brain and her team focus on some bone chips that are five years old. That makes no sense, since they can investigate the old bone chips at any time. The identity of the person that just died should be a priority out of any professional responsiblity for the family of who ever died on the plane. In spite of the ethics of identifying someone that just died in a plance crash, Dr. Goodman was disrespected numerous times when he tried to find out the status of the investigation of the plane passenger. Genius Brennan and her team never identified the sixth victim, they just came up with DNA markers and punted to the FBI, so they could focus on the five year old bone chips, and the guy who claimed to be the son of the victim.

Perhaps the most unprofessional, was that Brain Brennan was updating the alleged son of the mystery bone chips on every issue about the bone chips, and it turned out to be someone else's bones. Brennan was in violation of HIPAA laws, and any Taco Bell crew would have acted more professionally than Brennan's team of geniuses.

    Who Do They Work For

A whole lot of insubordination, especially from Hodgins, is the order of the day, as the gang chooses to work on some bone chips instead of doing their due diligence. It would seem that they are so full of self importance that the big government bucks that pay their salaries aren't being very effective. A small plane crash has six victims and one is unidentifiable, and it becomes a national security issue. But because those aforementioned bone chips were found near the scene, off go the experts, doing what they were told not to do. That said, I did enjoy the plot and the humanity of the long suffering son of a man who disappeared. Well crafted.

    Hi Bones Booth!!

This episode was very middle of the road for me interesting enough but not a favorite. There were a few things I enjoyed Zacks line in the beginning "Ignoring me is Booth's way of acknowledging my presence. It's a guy thing. " Its great lol. Also to answer a line he says later: Yes Zack that was too enthusiastic the way you grabbed at the assignment to go through escort adds. Not a fan that Bones basically forces everyone to defy Dr. Goodman's orders but loved how it bit back at Hodgins with that little threatening speech haha. I wasn't a huge fan of pig in woodchipper just too gross lol. Didn't love the Jesse character.

    • Trivia
Hodgins and Zack throwing the frozen pig through the wood chipper is the beginning of the long-standing plot line / joke of Hodgins conducting unorthodox (and often unapproved) experiments to not only collect data, but for the fun of it.
    • Goofs
When starting the wood chipper to feed the frozen pig through, the start button is pressed with an open palm. The start and stop buttons are together in a recess to avoid accidental hitting and would not be activated by an open palm.
    • Quotes

Dr. Temperance Brennan: I feel like kicking him.

Seeley Booth: That's normal after a pursuit. We try not to do that.
