Goofs
The "Nest Egg" jar can be seen on the counter before Marge starts scrimping. This actually isn't a continuity mistake. From the very first show, Marge had this jar hidden in her hair. Then it was for Christmas shopping. Being a good mother/wife Marge always has her nest egg jar. She gets more aggressive with her savings when the family's needs become urgent; as in, what if Homer dies.
