"Yeagh, the legend of the Dog-Faced Woman."

Selma's Choice is a great episode from season 4. It is probably one of the better episodes in which Selma is the major character.

After attending Aunt Gladys funeral, Selma decides she wants to have a baby. She starts dating but can not find anyone better than Hans Moleman. As the Simpson Family is about to go to Duff Gardens, Homer gets sick so Selma takes Bart and Lisa to Duff Gardens instead. As she spends the afternoon with the kids she begins to change her opinion of having kids.

For one this is a great realistic episode with a great plot. Too many times in future episodes the plot is so out of the ordinary that it makes it not realistic at all. This one is pretty realistic.

A lot of funny stuff happens in this episode. Homer eating a sandwich that is going bad, Bart pretending to be a dead Aunt Gladys, Lisa drinking the duff water that really is not water, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Its hilarious how the Duff Boat ride song continues to repeat over and over and it reminds me of the "Its a small world after all" ride at Disneyworld.

The character of Selma is the main one in this episode. I think that it is good to get an episode featuring Marge's sisters once in a while. She just wants to have a baby and not wind up lonely like Aunt Gladys did. Makes sense.

Phil Harman is great in this episode. He gets to be Lionel Hutz, Troy Mcclure, and a security guard at Duff Gardens. He was great and it is sad that he died, but when you watch episodes that he was in it helps his "Legend to live forever." So overall a great episode, and one that has great re watch ability. Highy recommended.

    Not Too Bad!

This is the thirteenth episode of the fourth season of the Simpsons. All things considered, it's not that bad of an episode. But it has been a great season, so this is one of the weaker episodes. I guess it is because I'm not too fond of Selma and Patty, and I don't like episodes based around them. That being said, Selma did have highlights, but so did Lisa (a naked one!), Bart, and Homer.

In this episode, "Selma's Choice," after their Aunt Gladys died, Selma decides she may want kids after all. After Homer gets ill from eating a decayed sandwich, Marge volunteers to take Lisa and Bart to Duff Gardens, an amusement park. While there, the kids create all kinds of mischief which may cause Selma to change her mind.

Overall, this is a pretty good episode, although it's not the best of the bunch. There are some hilarious moments, especially when Lisa drank the water at Duff Gardens and became a paranoid girl. But the Selma story was not all that interesting. Thank heavens for Bart and Lisa. I rate this episode 8/10.

    All Over the Place

Even to the miscreant Simpsons, Duff's Gardens seem a bit much. In addition to the awful theme park, Selma wants a child but nothing seems to work for her. The whole artificial insemination thing is hilarious with the belching all over the community. But the episode just doesn't do a lot for me.

    Another classic!!

The reason the Simpsons have remained iconic for multiple decades is thanks to episodes like this one that laid the foundation for the show.

Homer loving a sour sandwich, to Lisa becoming the a Lizard Queen this episode really showed how the writing staff was really hitting their stride and setting the tone for future episodes. Hilariously funny and infinitely quotable,

After Lisa drinks the water and goes crazy:

Man: Take this, then this, then these. (Handing Selma pulls)

    Selma: Thank you doctor.

Man: Oh, I'm not a doctor.

Their father might be missing a chromosome

Selma wants to have a baby.

This is a solid episode with some funny moments.

My favourite parts all involve Bart and Lisa at Duff Gardens. I particularly like the gonzo style sequence with Lisa after she drinks the water.

Selma's attempts at pregnancy are also quite amusing.

For me it is a 7.5/10 but I round upwards.

When Lisa starts hallucinating after she drinks the green water on the ride, she sees an image of Selma that resembles the artwork of Ralph Steadman, whose work was often associated with psychedelia.
    • Goofs
Aunt Gladys is referred to as Gladys Bouvier which is extremely unlikely since Bouvier is her sister Jacqueline's married name.
