The accent ruined this one for me.

Daniel doom killed last two owners of chalice colonel looks like Buffalo Bill and sounds odd

A rich man is absolutely nutty about some ancient chalice...so much so that he bids an incredible amount at an auction as he MUST have it. This seems strange, as the previous two owners were murdered. So, he builds a fortress-like tower (complete with an army of security guards and high tech devices) and remains there like a hermit. However, when Father Brown goes to see him, he finds the man dead...with an arrow through his neck!

This is a decent but unremarkable installment of "Father Brown". However, one of the characters in "The Arrow of Heaven" looks like Buffalo Bill Cody. However, his accent is just bizarre and it's obvious this Brit isn't very good at approximating an American accent. His daughter in the show isn't bad but you can hear a bit of British English in her as well. As a result, I'm deducting a couple points.

    Faux accent

The only thing worse than an American affecting a British accent (myself included) is a Brit trying to affect an American accent...especially a southern accent.

A decent storyline, but the accents detract.

Wealthy business tycoon and are collector Brander Merton buys a highly valuable chalice, immediately returning his own private fortress, he enlists the help of Father Brown, hoping not to suffer the same fate as the two previous owners, who suffered tragic deaths.

    Who is Daniel Doone?

As a mystery, this one works rather well, there is definitely a degree of interest and intrigue here, you're waiting for something to happen, but you don't quite know who or when, will it be theft or murder?

Kenneth More is excellent as always, Richard Hurndall was great as The Father Superior, but.... the rest of the cast struggle, made to use Southern American accents, and they all struggle, Mike Pratt in particular, there is a really capable cast here, but none of them nail the accent, and as such it feels a little phony.

A little titbit, Angela Douglas was actually married to Kenneth More, you can definitely spot a bit of chemistry between the pair.

    5/10.

    Acting!

Broad, hammy, scenery chewing performances. Miserable American accents. Claustrophobically filmed. Sets worse than 1950s space movies. And if you've ever watched a murder mystery before, you instantly know who the victim and the killer are going to be. 51 minutes of my life I'm never going to get back.
