[Deputy Director Welsh is refusing to call off a boarding even after Gibbs informs him that there is a bomb waiting to blow a ship up]
Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Is *everyone* up there as *stupid* as you!

[Gibbs has amnesia. Franks has brought him a steak in the hospital courtyard]
Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs: [not remembering] Nine-eleven?
NIS Agent Mike Franks: September 11, 2001.
Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Hey, Boss, it's '96, and you just retired.
[takes a bite of his steak]
Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Damn, this is good. I owe you. Had to be a hijacking, huh? They never change security until it's too late.
[Franks pauses, and lights a cigarette]
NIS Agent Mike Franks: Al-Qaeda hijacked 4 airliners. Two hit the World Trade Center, one the Pentagon. Fourth was to take out the White House. Some gutsy passengers fought 'em, they went down in Pennsylvania. Twin Towers are gone. Pentagon's fixed. Three thousand-some dead, nearly as many wounded.
[Gibbs gets up, runs to the trash can, and vomits]
Nurse Maria Baliad: Sir, are you all right?
NIS Agent Mike Franks: He's okay. Got some bad news.

Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs: [getting frustrated] What can I do?
Officer Ziva David: [grabbing the sides of his face with her hands] Remember.
Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs: I've been trying to since I woke up in this room!
Officer Ziva David: Well try harder!
Officer Ziva David: [Gibbs glares at her] Good. That's a start.
Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs: What is?
Officer Ziva David: The old Gibbs stare! You gave it all of us! McGee, Tony, me!
Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs: [yells] What are you talking about?
Officer Ziva David: [Ziva grabs Gibbs's hand, and uses it to slap the back of her head. Gibbs has a flashback of head-slapping her] Ari... Ari killed Kate.
[Gibbs has another flashback, remembering Kate's shooting]
Officer Ziva David: [starts to cry] And I... I killed Ari.
Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs: [remembers Ari's shooting] Your brother?
Officer Ziva David: [between sobs] Yes.
Officer Ziva David: You killed your brother... to save me.
[Ziva openly cries, Gibbs hugs her]

Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs: I was angry at Mike. I never understood how he could quit... until now.
