This episode is just an absolute classic

I didnt get to watch this episode as a kid as Upn that eventually turned to the CW would only really air the current episodes from 2005-2008 I watched what they aired and fortunately years later I got to see this on FX and I've never laughed so hard at a simpsons episode. Everything in this episode had me dying of laughter season 5 was for some reason the absolute funniest out of the series.

Excuse Me, I Lost My Brain

While on a sugar high, Bart and Milhouse find themselves in Scout uniforms. Ned Flanders is the scoutmaster and the big event is a father/son rafting trip. Both Homer and Bart go on the trip because of stupid choices. The time on the raft is an opportunity to see how destructive Homer can be under the right circumstances. He is responsible for the four of them nearly dying. I know it's a cartoon, but sometimes he's almost too much.

    Egghead likes his booky-wook!

Bart joins the Boy Scouts, much to Homer's amusement.

This is a very strong episode with some hilarious moments involving the family.

It is generally strong in humour, starting very well with the knife jokes and Bart/Millhouse's squishy bender. However, there are a few verbal and sight gags about midway through involving Homer that are so funny I could barely speak when I first saw them.

I think this episode has some of the best movie tributes, particularly the likes of Deliverance and Friday The 13th during the comedy adventure part of the story. Ernest Borgnine was an inspired cameo and I love all his scenes.

    • Trivia
Ernest Borgnine was offered a guest role because the staff liked his work on the films Marty (1955) and From Here to Eternity (1953). He wasn't too familiar with the show when he was asked to be a guest star. But his grandchildren were fans so he accepted the offer.
    • Goofs
After Bart and Milhouse both taste the Squishee, Bart has a Squishee mustache. In the next shot, Bart's mustache has disappeared without him licking it off.
