some nice effects while cutting the drone arm

This episode reminded me a lot of The Six Million Dollar Man (1973). Just in the fact that the SG-1 team is cloned as robots. To show that we see an excellent shot of Jack's arm being cut by himself so the robot mechanism is shown. Even his blood is replaced by some milk look-a-like fluid inside his body.

When arriving on planet OX3-989 SG-1 are rendered unconscious. When they awake they noticed that their clothes are different, they agree to return to earth after meeting the only person alive on the planet, Harlan (Jay Brazeau). Once back on their base and under research by Dr. Janet Fraiser (Teryl Rothery) she wants to take blood of Colonel Jack, and we all know what is happening. Not only that, they passes out and have to return to OX3-989 to reload. But Harlan can't let them go back to earth.

Again a rather simple episode but with the effects of the arm it worked out fine again. Teal'c isn't much to see here because as Harlan says, he's different. Some funny situations here and there when the clones do meet the original ones. The episode is over before you know it.

    Good Special Effects

Jack, Sam, Daniel and Teal'c travel to PX3-989 and they find inside a facility with machinery. Out of the blue, they are scanned by a light and faint. When they awake, they meet eleven-thousand year-old Harlan, the only survivor of a race that lived in the underground of the planet destroyed by radiation. They return to SGC and during the medical examination, Dr. Janet Fraiser realizes that they are androids. Further, their energy sources are running out and they must return to the planet to retrieve their human bodies.

"Tin Man" is an episode with funny situations and good special effects. The confrontation between Jack and the Android O'Neill is hilarious. My vote is seven.

    Hey, that's me?

Weird storyline with a lackluster resolution and ending. Though decent effects, plot was anticlimactic and most of the time spent on trivial conversations.

    • Trivia
The character of Harlan may have been named after the legendary writer Harlan Ellison, whose writings often delved into sci-fi.
    • Goofs
When SG-1 first steps through the Stargate, Colonel Jack O'Neill welcomes everyone to "P3X-989", but in the scene after the opening credits, he calls the planet "PX3-989". This name seems to be correct as later in the episode, Major General George S. Hammond calls the planet "PX3-989"
