    Sheriff Hollister Keeps the Peace

This is a particularly well-done episode. There's a Cornish family in town, with a domineering father and a daughter who doesn't want to be held to the Old World customs. Dad has promised her to a man she doesn't want to marry, a guy from Cornwall.

That guy is played by Pernell Roberts, who just blew me away with his performance here. He's quiet but powerful, always pretty much in the background. But when he speaks, he's so sincere and strong. And with an excellent Cornish accent, no less.

There's a local hothead who flirts with the girl, and wants a shootout with the Dad, but everything works out fine. (P. S. On a totally trivial note, I'd just like to say that as a woman, I found Mr. Roberts to be smoking hot here.)

Sheriff Clay Hollister: [Last lines] Next time I go to be a peacemaker between a man and his woman, grab me hold of the coattails, will ya.

Townsman: [Bursts through the sheriff's door] Better get down to Rosie's Clay, she just took a shot at her new man!

Harris Claibourne: [Clay starts to run toward the door but Claibourne grabs hold of his coattails] Wooaahh, have you forgotten already?

Sheriff Clay Hollister: [Chuckles, turns toward townsman] Is he hurt bad?

Townsman: Naw, just a scratch. But he's holed up in the Baptist Church and don't darst to come out.

Sheriff Clay Hollister: You tell him to stay there until after Johny Coster's weddin' is over.

      [Turns back to Claibourne]

      Sheriff Clay Hollister: How's that?
