Strong characters, good plot line, only a couple of weak points.

Excellent performances by guest stars John Carradine, Michael Landon, and Richard Reeves in this "who do you trust?" episode of Tombstone Territory. $10,000 worth of gold is at stake. Even the integrity of Sheriff Clay Hollister is called into question. Will he sell out for a share of that gold?

There are a couple of weak points in this episode. The opening scene with Clay Hollister and newspaper man Harris Claibourne is a bit forced and artificial. And with respect to actor Tom London, who plays the part of Jeriah Hoskins quite well, do we really need comic relief from an "Otis from Mayberry" town drunk?

Still, this is a very good second season show for the classic TV series, "Tombstone Territory".

    John Carradine and Michael Landon

TOMBSTONE TERRITORY was popular enough to last three seasons on ABC but is virtually forgotten today, its star Pat Conway growing up a true cowboy on his father's 125-acre Pacific Palisades ranch, tending the herd and roping cattle. Only 26 at the time he was cast, Conway plays the lead role of Sheriff Clay Hollister in 1881 Arizona territory, 'the town too tough to die,' his adventures narrated by Harris Claibourne (Richard Eastham), editor of the Tombstone Epitaph. This second season episode, "The Man from Brewster," boasts a fine cast of guest stars in John Carradine, Richard Reeves, and Michael Landon, only months before BONANZA. Landon plays Chris Anderson, wanted fugitive for stealing $10,000 worth in gold, pursued by Brewster Flats Sheriff Binns (Carradine) and his hulking deputy Tom Hatch (Richard Reeves). There's a $500 reward for Anderson, dead or alive, and he's come to Tombstone for help from Clay Hollister, insisting that Binns and Hatch are the actual robbers trying to pin their crime on him. Binns arrives to claim his prisoner, with a legal document that can't be disputed, though Hollister's piqued curiosity sees him accompany the group to Brewster Flats to find out who the real culprit is. Landon's early television roles often saw him in darker shades, while Carradine's shifty nature keeps the audience guessing as to who they can trust.
