I've never found Holland Taylor's character funny, and that again proves to be the case here.
This was a so-so episode, though it was nice to see in the early years of the show them trying to tell proper stories, rather than just sex joke after sex joke.
Would it have lasted for 12 years if it had stayed in the style displayed here though? Probably not.

In addition to having pretty much zero funny jokes, this episode also has two other things that run it into the ground. First, it prominently features two of the worst characters in the show - Rose and Evelyn. They are never funny, it is just a question of will they be more boring or annoying. Second, it tries to be smart and feature psychology, and once again, it fails miserably, because writers know nothing about the subject. They think that just throwing buzzwords and "diagnoses" copied from other bad sitcoms would sound smart and funny, but of course, it is neither. Just one example is the fact that Rose is supposed to have a master's degree in behavioral psychology, yet when she describes Charlie's psychological state, she exclusively uses terms from psychoanalysis. Behavioral psychology and psychoanalysis are polar opposites and no behaviorist would ever use psychoanalytical terms. Never mind the fact that even from the point of view of psychoanalysis her "diagnosis" is a complete nonsense. Then they also throw in some hypnosis in the lamest possible attempt at a joke and it also fails miserably.
Another example that the writers should write about things they know (if there are any such things) and not just parrot nonsense from other writers who are equally clueless about things.
