Season 7 getting a little better

Season 7 is slowly starting to feel more like its previous seasons. There's going to be some bumps along the way but I think the new writers are starting to get the hang of it a little more.

It's Yales parents weekend and Lorelai and Chris decide to go. Emily and Richard attend also. Chris and Lorelai take Rory and her newspaper staff out to eat and they all get a little drunk. A news story has broke and Rory is a bit peeved that her staff might be too drunk to do their jobs.

Meanwhile, Luke goes on a crazy date with April's crazy swim coach. It's pretty funny to see Luke squirm. Also, wouldn't we think that Luke already knows how to swim? This puzzles me but oh well.

    Ugh

I hate this episode every time I see it. The thought that Luke, an avid fisherman and awarded sportsman through high school, does not know how to swim is comical.

When did Lorelei become so obnoxious?

Seriously, I get that she's a lot to take but there's zero charm evident in her never-ending rants in this episode. She's bitching and moaning throughout about absolutely everything. All the while holding herself aloof and above all the parents, faculty and even the wait-staff while visiting Rory on parents weekend at Yale. Deeply disappointing in a season that was misdirected to begin with.

    • Trivia
The scenes in which Lorelai and Christopher are at Yale were actually filmed at the University of Southern California. The "Welcome to Yale Parents' Weekend" sign covers the sign for Bovard Auditorium on the USC university campus.
    • Goofs
During Luke's rather odd date he is asked who would play him in "The Luke Danes Story". He replies that he's never thought about that, but in fact he has. In the previous season, while visiting a girls' soccer game, Lorelai suggested Tobey Maguire could play him in the movie and he immediately suggested Viggo Mortensen.

Christopher Hayden: Apparently the crème brûlée is to die for.

Rory Gilmore: Since when do you say 'to die for'?

Lorelai Gilmore: Since he got addicted to Project Runway.

      Christopher Hayden: Make it work!
