Best Hour of Sci-Fi/Suspense on TV Ever?

Quite possibly the most exciting piece of Sci-Fi/Action on television ever broadcast! All of the episodes leading up to this moment were perfectly executed to bring the viewer to this glorious hour. Characters and plot lines all converged into a moment of tension and suspense unlike any other I have seen in quite some time. Not only was the main storyline of save the cheerleader, save the world beautifully dealt with, the back stories or side stories were not forgotten and also intertwined magnificently. This show is slowly but surely becoming my favorite program on television, right behind the already superb and amazing Battlestar Galactica. More episodes like this (probably impossible because then they would all be the best ever) and this show will be in my television hall of fame.

    Chapter Nine 'Homecoming'

The story arcs have gone up a gear in this one with things really cooking.

Hiro is absent for most of the episode as he went back in time to save Charlie the waitress.

This really is about Isaac's painting might come true. Peter lying dead in a pool of blood as he tries to save the cheerleader.

Mr Bennet thinks he might be able to save Claire, not knowing just how teenagers behave.

Sylar is lurking in the shadows in Odessa, Texas and he has a cheerleader in his sights. The one who bravely went into rescued some people.

The twist was telegraphed in the opening summary. However it was such a well realised climax. Some of the characters are learning about their true potential and that they are not alone.

Good, but could have been better

Many TV shows have become expert at *seeming* to advance the story, but not actually doing so. This episode was good entertainment, but we weren't really told much of anything. How do any of these acts contribute to saving the world? How did anything anyone did, actually make a difference? Peter deliberately shows up for the scene containing his apparent death - why did he actively try to make that scene come true instead of actively trying to change it?

I don't think there is a consistent logic in these events, and ultimately we didn't really learn anything new about the underlying reasons for it all.

Still, good show, and I'll certainly keep watching. Great characters all-round, even if that walking fan-boy's dream, Ali Larter, had much too little screen-time!

    8 out of 10.
