It's just wonderful in every aspect.

This is the best episode of this great serial to date, and that's all due to the brilliance of The Draconians. They're not fighters, they don't have inbuilt lasers or super powers, but they have a society, a culture and order unique to Doctor Who. I've said it before but it is such a pity that they didn't return. The scenes inside The Draconian courtroom were terrific, I loved John Woodnutt.

Sadly we get one or two wobbly sets, but who cares, those Ogrons are strong. Some very funny scenes, The Doctor's response to The Master's pleas to The Draconian President are very funny.

I must mention the performance of Katy Manning, never my favourite companion to begin with, in this I think she is terrific, her highest point. Scenes between her and Delgado were terrific. 9/10

    • Trivia
The version of this chapter used in the VHS is a few minutes longer than the one originally transmitted by the BBC and features a discarded arrangement of the Doctor Who theme. This is because it was a rough cut assembled during post-production and never intended to be seen by the public.
    • Goofs
After being attacked by the masters ship, Jo is in the cage room with the draconian guard, leaning over him and asking if he's alright. Presumably due to editing, in the very next screen she is shown being brought into the same room by Ogrons, with no connecting scene showing how she left the room and was captured.
    • Quotes

The Master: That must be them. No other ship would be on a course for Earth at a time like this.

First Ogron: WE are on a course for Earth!

The Master: WELL NATURALLY! Because we're CHASING them!
