    Drab, until the cliffhanger.

Sarah and Harry are imprisoned on Voga, The Doctor, still on Nerva faces a threat from the Cyber ship.

Apart from a fairly exciting shootout in the caves, this is so dull, the story drags along at a snail's pace, thank goodness for Harry and Sarah's escape scene, or I would have been asleep. This lacks any sort of atmosphere once again. The suspense could have been continued, instead they showed a pointless scene of the Cybermen. I have never cared for the natives on Voga.

On the plus side, I love the new design of the Cybermen, they hadn't featured for some time, I always thought it a shame that Pertwee never faced them. They look smart, a shame they feature in such a bland story.

I've almost nodded off again, at least the cliffhanger adds some excitement. Slow. 6/10

    Lost in Space...

There are times when face makeup is quite suspect, here the Vogans suffer badly from neglect, layers of papier mache, leaves a curious display and now the Cybermen have docked and will connect.

    again, an underwhelming cyberman episode.

It's also the finale of this season, and it doesn't live up to the hype. What i'm watching isn't good. It's poor. I'm only giving it a 6 because the cybermen are my favorite doctor who villains.

Not gold but a decent bronze.

    Review of all 4 episodes:

Cybermen are a favourite of mine and I think they are effectively portrayed in this story albeit quite different to earlier Cybermen. The leader of the Cybermen actually is quite Darth Vader like (this was of course made before Star Wars so it is NOT a copycat).

The story involves The Doctor, Sarah and Harry arriving back on the Space Station Nerva but some considerable time before the time it was used as an 'ark'. The station is hit with deaths of numerous crew and The Doctor tries to help, eventually discovering involvement of Cybermen.

The Cybermen are suitably villainous and decently realised. The aliens native to the 'planet of Gold' are acceptable, if very unexceptional, aliens. The Doctor, Sarah and Harry are great and the other main humans are well portrayed. The story is entertaining and enjoyable. The problem holding this adventure back a bit is an occasional unclear logic in how events and choices progress.

The Vogon costumes and effects may not be amazing but they are OK and the Nerva station is brilliant. It was wise to re-use the excellent sets from The Ark in Space.

    My ratings: Episodes 1 & 2 - 8.5/10, Episodes 3 & 4 - 7.5/10.

    • Trivia
The story was partially filmed at Wookey Hole Caves, a location renowned for bad luck. As if to confirm local superstition about the site, an electrician broke his leg, Elisabeth Sladen's motorboat went out of control, and one of the stuntmen was injured getting her out of the water and ended up in hospital.

Tyrum: [over a video screen] Ah, Vorus. There are matters of importance I must discuss with you.

      Vorus: Yes?

Tyrum: Not over the vision projector. Here, in the city.

Vorus: I am not aware of anything of such importance, Councilor.

Tyrum: I am, and as always, Vorus, I look forward to our meeting with the keenest pleasure, so I've sent our fastest skimmer to collect you.
