"I guess you could say I just kept my cool."

Spider-Man attempts to apprehend two diamond thieves, "Dr. Cool" (the busy series voice actor Tom Harvey), and his henchman, Garth. Unfortunately, the web head ends up at their mercy when he makes a bonehead move, not knowing that Cool possesses a very special cane that launches a projectile at his head. They tie him up, and stuff him in a freezer which Cool sets up to drop to "absolute zero" (minus 460 degrees).

Spider-Mans' subsequent adventure when the temperature goes back up and he thaws out is some of the most ridiculous, fanciful, hilarious nonsense that you'll see on this series. It involves a post-apocalypse NYC, dinosaurs, a woolly mammoth, and cavemen! It seems as if the writers were brainstorming on the most utterly fantastic story that they could come up with.

There's much to enjoy here, and of course much to laugh at - such as the fact that Garth is such a moron that he falls for the same shtick twice. At one point an iceman (voice of Bernard Cowan) is clearly speaking, yet you can see Spider-Mans' mouth move. And there's no way in Hell that Spider-Man could survive being frozen at such a low temperature! All in all, this is another absolute hoot of an episode.

        Eight out of 10.

Besides the fact that a human body cannot be revived from being frozen at absolute zero (-460 F), the cost of designing such a facility would be prohibitive for an ice house.
        • Quotes

Dr. Cool: If you can hear me webbed-wonder in your semi-stupor, know then that I've prescribed for your meddlesome intrusion, this chilling fate. When we leave here, the temperature will drop to minus four hundred and fifty-nine degrees; absolute zero. At that temperature, all your body's molecular motion will suddenly cease!

          [Cackles]

Dr. Cool: And since this refrigeration unit is nuclear-powered, you will probably... keep forever... on ice!

          [laughs]

Dr. Cool: And you have heard, have you not webbed-wonder, of the incredible delusions that come on the mind as it numbs. Yes, people imagine all sorts of things before their frozen doom. Now, you shall see.

          [Locks freezer door]

          Dr. Cool: Sweet dreams!
