A total hoot and a half.

This highly amusing episode would have us believe that the planet Mars is populated with all-powerful warriors. Their leader (voice of Bernard Cowan) tasks Volton (voice of Len Carlson), who turns out to be responsible for a recent spate of lightning strikes on Earth, with conquering Earth & plundering its treasures.

Spidey, although thrown for a loop when Volton (who looks like a Viking) first appears, recovers quick & is able to knock out the mighty warrior. With the help of some hilarious, hip hot rodders, Spidey incapacitates Volton, although the villain receives help from a scuzzy bank robber named Boomer (voice of Chris Wiggins).

If you're a fan of this series, you can be assured that this particular episode will give you plenty of laughs. For one thing, for such a powerful guy, Volton is easy enough to knock down (even when Volton has enough time to see Spidey coming). Boomer is a riot, as is his briefly seen sidekick Borer (who chickens out by diving through a window).

Thunder Rumble is lots of fun from start to finish, with the memorable aspect of those kids lending Spidey a hand and heavy use of music cues from the first season.

      Seven out of 10.

Mars: Ours is a planet of warriors. Each one of us is empowered with the mightiest martial skills. We do what elsewhere, can only be done by armies. The power of the universe is individually ours. And today Bolton, you may achieve our highest honor. and so have the honor of extending once more, the reach of the red planet Mars. And to the victor of the games today, shall fall the conquest of Earth.
