Common sense isn't the greatest strength of this show.!
This episode doesn't make any sense at all. The fake tension this episode tried to make, do we really think that Dexter "the main character's" gonna get caught before the season ends?. Also, the reveal of Cuban kid's Jesus sketch was sure comical but it doesn't make any sense and why is everyone is so SHOCKED looking at the sketch before it was revealed that the Dexter was not in that sketch. Like I said it's a miserable attempt to force suspense.
I get that all of this wasn't considered a problem, in the time frame it was made. People infact used to love these cliches. But fans of this show shouldn't sell this as a quality show in the present time. Let alone calling it GOAT. I agree there are some good aspects of this show, others had already mentioned them. But I'm here to RANTT!!
IMDB should reassess the show's total average rating to prevent misleading. Currently it's 8.7 out 10 like really?
What's even more interesting is, this episode alone have a total of 9 reviews out of 7k people who rated this episode. Which indicates that either the ratings are fake or they are old.... Nevertheless, 8.9 isn't justified for this episode in any shape or form.

Crumbles
I love this episode seeing Dexter at his vulnerable lowest. Like he is so panicked throughout this episode in a way that it all turns out for nothing as the child ends up drawing Jesus. I dont know that just so funny. Its also good to see a conflict being brought up in Dexters home life and shows why Rita is attached to him.
Peak ep
Summary:
The Ice Truck Killer leaves Dexter a surprise at the scene of one of Dexter's recent kills, placing him firmly in the cross hairs of his own Homicide Division colleagues.
This episode is really good, it smells of mystery quality, the police, blood details, Dexter, other characters really put in effort.

Things Begin to Fall Apart!
In another fabulous, tense episode of Dexter, we see that the stakes are higher and that the tension is about to reach the peak after the incidents in this episode. The acting hasn't been better and the story hasn't been better. After the ending of this episode, I just want more and more. That talks about the quality of these episodes and just how good and addictive they are.
This episode, "Return to Sender" has Dexter staring more and more into danger. The Ice Truck Killer takes Dexter's most recent victim and puts him at the scene of the crime where the victim was murdered. Now Dexter must do everything he can to avoid being caught by his own police department.
Overall, this is a very good, thrilling episode. I liked the fact how now we get to see some things from Debra's point of view and we see some more flashbacks between the two. This episode is also about the relations between brother and sister and how they turn a little sour with this episode. I rate this episode 9/10.

Dexter's Worst Nightmare Realized
Bloody brilliant return to form after last episode's stumble.
Ep 6 "Return to Sender" delivers everything that makes Dexter compelling: psychological cat-and-mouse games, genuine character stakes, and Hall's phenomenal performance under extreme pressure.
The Ice Truck Killer returning Dexter's victim is a masterstroke - suddenly our meticulous predator becomes prey within his own workplace. Hall's portrayal of Dexter's mounting paranoia feels authentic without losing the character's calculating core. Every glance from colleagues carries weight, every question potential discovery.
Tony Goldwyn's direction maintains razor-sharp tension throughout. The crime scene sequences crackle with danger as Dexter investigates his own handiwork whilst surrounded by cops. Goldwyn, primarily known as an actor, demonstrates impressive directorial instincts here.
Julie Benz elevates the Rita subplot beyond typical domestic drama. Her confrontation with abusive ex-husband Paul provides emotional counterpoint to Dexter's clinical world - both characters fighting different types of predators.
Schlattmann's script balances multiple storylines without losing focus. The Cuban boy witness adds genuine stakes whilst the Ice Truck Killer's direct challenge escalates the season's central mystery perfectly.
This episode recaptures the series' psychological sophistication and demonstrates why Dexter became appointment television. Tension, character development, and stellar performances firing on all cylinders.
