The Fred Karno (real name Frederick John Wescott 1866-1941) mentioned in conversation was a celebrated British music hall impresario specializing in slapstick comedy. Many of his protégés found success a few years later in America including Charles and Sydney Chaplin, Albert Austin, Eric Campbell, and Stan Laurel.

Goofs
Lord Andover refers to the American President as Roosevelt. As the storyline takes place in 1910 or 1911, the U.S. President at that time would have been William Howard Taft. Theodore Roosevelt (1901-1909) would run again for President in 1912 as a third party candidate against his hand-picked successor Taft, but both would lose to Woodrow Wilson.
