Armchair Theatre, was one of many anthology series released during the heyday otherwise known as ' the golden era of tv', the stories were a mix of original plays encompassing themes which were prevalent in society at the time, others were pieces driven by character development.
The series features a superb cast: John Thaw, Tom Bell and the late James Lauren son.
Some of the stories are entertaining and have a statement to make about issues in society which even in the modern world we live in now were ahead of their time and are relevant today as in those days, the acting is subtle and nuanced, the production values were satisfactory albeit slightly clunky and unconvincing but otherwise negligible due to the fact they would've been produced on a low budget.
Overall: A watchable anthology series with intelligent storytelling, understated acting contains some absurd storytelling anachronisms but otherwise on balance it works well.
