    Exciting !

The beginning of BSG's fourth season has, in my opinion, been so-so this far: a mix of okay episodes and some less good ones with a lot of bizarre happenings (especially plots including the four new Cylons).

This new episode advances the story considerably and satisfyingly and even ties in things some of you may have heard in BSG: Razor. There are also many exciting moments throughout the episode which get the adrenaline pumping and a few welcome surprises. Though the President Roslin part of the episode is less exciting, it is touching and the guest appearance of Nana Visitor is a treat for those who enjoyed DS9.

Looking forward to more episodes like this !

Roslin and Colonel Kira share a "projection"

Or a vision, I don't know if this episode was telling us that the cylon's ability to project is now being bestowed to humans.

But, seeing that Roslin continues to see the projection of the Opera House, which is shared by Six and Athena, that might be what this means.

The projection thing started all the way back in the miniseries, with Baltar and his "angel", later we saw Caprica Six start seeing the same angel, or the Baltar version of it.

And then, when Roslyn started taking the drug, she started seeing visions, but they could have been projections... the prophetess that was visited by D'Anna took the same drug and was able to project onto D'anna.

Even Boomer and Hera shared a projection.

So whether it was cylon projection or basic human drug induced visions, they appeared to be the same thing and in this episode, Roslin shares it with another human. Nana Visitor.

Meanwhile, Starbucks and Athena visit the blown up base star.

Even as the humans and the cylon's try to cooperate, they are still making mistakes. But they keep trying.

Beautiful, and, so simple, I missed it the 1st time.

Battlestar Galactica is one of the best shows I've ever seen. Seeing them for a second time, on the BBCAmerica rebroadcast, has opened up new views to episodes I'm long familiar with.

The episode FAITH is one of them.

'There's more to this existence than we can see with the naked eye. There's power that we can't begin to understand.'

A powerful message delivered with such quietness, that, I missed it the 1st time I saw it

With this episode, we really see how much has been lost - by both sides, by individuals, and with it, we see there are only two avenues from here.

The story is told in several dialogues, running concurrently. One is between President Laura Roslyn, with a woman named Emily, who's on the brink of losing her own battle to cancer.

'Something is happening here, and, I don't really understand it' - President Laura Roslyn to Commander Adama

This conversation she has, shows Roslyn - the words I quote above, and, the truths these key players learn of mortality, are what will power the series to it's penultimate finale.

'I'm not ready' - President Laura Roslyn to her mother'

In another, Starbucks, and her scout party are on the rebel Basestar, where the Cylons have no way to regenerate - they die, if they are killed.

'You are the harbinger of death, Kara Thrace. You will lead them all to their end.' -rebel Basestar Hybrid to Kara Thrace

In Starbuck's encounter with a Basestar hybrid, the words originally said to Kendra Shaw (Razor), by another hybrid, are repeated.

However, what these words mean, and, how they're interpreted, currently, are not exactly the same.

Felix Gaeta has been wounded - severely - and, while this is of minor importance in this episode, this wound, and what it does to Gaeta, will have very heavy repercussions.

'They call you Athena now… you were the first to say no (to the entire plan)…you showed us we don't have to be slaves to our programming…' - A number 8 to their sister, Sharon Agathon

'You pick your side, your side and you stick - you don't cut and run when things get ugly. Otherwise you'll never have anything. No love, no family. No life to call your own. - Sharon Agathon to the gathered 8's

In one of the only times Sharon Agathon encounters her sisters, she tells them they're too unstable. Fascinated by the 'shiny things' as it were. By not making choices - of their own - with the possibility of winning, or losing, they miss out on the point of existence.

The conflict seen in Sharon 'Boomer' Valerii runs throughout the series - and is even mentioned (in the last episode) how she could never commit to anything.

But Sharon Agathon HAS made choices - and HAS Stuck with them. They've brought her tremendous pain, but also great joy, and love. And commitment. From both the human fleet in general, and, from her family.

'You guys make me sick' - Sharon Agathon to the gathered 8's.

In each of these threads, the question of faith - faith not necessarily in a higher being, but, a faith in one's choices, in one's decisions, is played out beautifully.

Watching this episode again, through eyes familiar with what the narrative portends, shows, how this episode, is such an important harbinger of the coming events.

The final dialogue, between Adama and Roslyn - even though they're (all) at such tenuous places, shows, that - through these various threads - with nothing concrete, nothing to hold on to, they're belief in...they're faith, has been restored.

'You made me believe' -Adama to Roslyn

'All of this has happened before - and it will happen again'

Seeing this episode, again, has lead me to get a little teary-eyed. They're all at such desperate states, they all have - in their own ways - so little left. They all take a step from a safe place, into riskier territories, and, as the saying goes; 'nothing ventured, nothing gained.'

[a platinum blond Six has just killed Jean Barolay and is being held down by Anders who's holding a gun to her head. Starbuck has been trying to keep Anders from taking revenge. When another Six, an darker blond and the apparent leader of the Sixes on the damaged Baseship, intervenes]

      Number Six: Why sister?

Platinum Blond Number Six: [Looking down at the floor] I just couldn't let it go. On New Caprica...

Number Six: [the darker blond 6 squats down beside her while Anders continues holding her down at gun-point] She was the one?

Platinum Blond Number Six: I never did anything to her. We were working at the water treatment plant, and she just...

Number Six: I know. I remember. After you downloaded, we tried to work through this.

Platinum Blond Number Six: How do you work through something like that? Never forget her expression as I tried to scream. Just slapped tape over my mouth and threw me in that septic tank.

Ensign Samuel Anders: You shut your frakking mouth!

Platinum Blond Number Six: I still see her face when I try and sleep.

[Looking up at her sister Six]

Platinum Blond Number Six: We were trying to help these people

Number Six: I know. I know. I wish there was something I could do.

Platinum Blond Number Six: Then I'm glad it's you.

[the darker blond Six reaches down and cradles her sister's face tenderly. They kiss. She then stands up and calmly walks around behind Anders. She reaches down and pulls the trigger of the gun he's holding to her sister Six's head]

Ensign Samuel Anders: [Everyone is shocked, not quite believing what just happened. Sam jumps up and points his gun at the darker blond Six] Gods damn it!

Number Six: [Looking at Anders] No Resurrection ship. You understand? She's just as dead as your friend.

Number Six: [Walks over to Starbuck] Is that enough human justice for you? Blood for blood?a
