Goodbye Room was well done. The music, cast and story meshed into a plot that was cleverly created for a one-hour show. As with all good stories, it had me thinking about it afterward; A wishful alternate ending (that of course wouldn't have been so poignant), would have been of the two girls deciding to go together with their babies, and making a go of it with each others' help. If only Hillary had waited five minutes for her friend to scoop up her boy and join her. It also made me realize how many similar real-time heartbreaks happened during these years. I had to rate it excellent because any show that created this much emotion deserves it. ~ Cindy
I am adopted and born in the era this show took place and will say the events of this were right on target for what happened to unwed mothers and babies during this time. I am reunited with my first parents after being separated 43 years and will say not only do I wish it hadn't happened as it did but also wish my first mother could have at least had a goodbye room to hold me, rock me, and comfort me before we were separated. I am thankful to have her in my life now I only wish it could have always been. It appears to me the writers of the Cold Case show have done their homework to make sure the facts were true to the time. So many times writers want to candy coat what really happened making it seems much easier than it really was. I appreciate that this wasn't the case with this sensitive subject.... Jo Ellen

This show has never let me down. True, there are some episodes on themes I am not invested in, but when they score they really score.
I was raised Catholic. I walked away when I was 15, but when I was younger the nuns did their best to indoctrinate me.
I have known outstanding Catholics, so I do not mean to tar all Catholics. I went to a Jesuit law school, and got an excellent education. The school represented the best in the Catholic tradition and philosophy, and I have always been proud to have gone there.
This episode shows the worst side of the church. And it did so without overdramatizing. Cold Case was a remarkable achievement. It is greatly missed.

- TriviaIn the intro scene when Hillary tells her father "I need to use the kybo" and he tells her to "speak English", Hillary is using a slang term for bathroom. A "kybo" is a temporary toilet set up when camping, often also referred to as an "outhouse" or a "porta-potty". The term is often used by some groups which promote camping activities such as Girl Scouts, Girl Guides and Boy Scouts.
- GoofsSister Margaret (Georgann Johnson) tells Vera and Valens what Karen (Michelle Page) and Hilary (Johanna Braddy) said after they'd put their fake wedding bands on. But she had already left them and gone inside, so she couldn't have heard the conversation.
