This means alot for someone who grew up in these areas.
First off, I need to say to those who watched it from outside of Sweden; This is not how bad it is in Sweden. Just the shootings in this show would account for like 80-90% of all shootings in Sweden per year.
So, with that out of the way, I must point out that it still, with some purposeful exaggeration really shows how the life in the suburbs and immigrant heavy areas are like. How the youth are brainwashed by others to commit crime, how they are fooled to doing criminal work etc.
The actors keep shocking me, not the full fledged ones but the unkowns that are the criminal kids. They seem so random but I am shocked at how good acting skills almost all of them has. Really sells the vibe of how it actually can be in these areas.
It does an excellent job at pointing out how society has failed with these youths. How innocent kids and people gets shot. How most of these kids go into it just because they idolize this criminal life and being tough. How most of these kids get prisoned, killed or hurt because of unbelievably trivial things.
There is clear hints in the series that point to the hopelessness in this life that the criminals themselves can't ignore.
Honestly, in the end of season 2, there is NO winners in these series. Leya (Evin Ahmed) who is the main protagonist in the series included.
I believe the story was developed to talk to these kids in real life. To question their ways and see how trivial these goals are.
When it comes to the story, its fine, its exaggerated but in a "thats ok, or else it wouldn't be fun to watch" kind of way.
But like I said, it gives a whole nother feeling to someone who lives in Stockholm because they keep being in key areas around the city that makes you feel way more engaged.
