As a fan of the series, I had low expectations and it still disappointed!
As someone who holds the original Matrix trilogy in high regard, including its sequels, I was both excited and apprehensive about Matrix Resurrections. The original trilogy was a groundbreaking cinematic experience, blending innovative visual effects with deep philosophical themes and a compelling narrative. Unfortunately, Matrix Resurrections feels more like a fan-made tribute than a worthy continuation of the saga.
From the outset Resurrections falls short of capturing the same style, substance, and nuance that made the first three films so memorable. From the colour grading to the soundtrack, everything that made the original trilogy cool and sleek is missing here.
The plot of Matrix Resurrections is disappointingly predictable. Instead of offering fresh perspectives or new layers to the complex universe that the original films so expertly wove, it recycles old concepts without adding meaningful depth. The story unfolds in a way that feels both formulaic and uninspired, lacking the edge-of-your-seat and i even found myself reading my phone and browing sites during my viewing.
In terms of editing, the action scenes resembles like Taken, rather than the visually inventive style of its predecessors. The rapid cuts and frenetic pace was distracting and nothing that the trilogy was praised for previously.
I'm not sure what camera's or lenses they was using but the whole movie felt like it was shot like a TV Drama hense my likening it to a fan made movie. The new cast of characters are completely forgettable I frankly didn't care who made it or didn't but I had no doubt how the movie would end and with no concern for the safety of our heroes.
All in all I went into this movie with low expectations after hearing it was disappointing but with an optimism that it may not be that bad, and I have to say I was still massively disappionted.
