Well... it was two of those things I suppose. What it lacked in horror and thrills it made up with weepy drama and cringeworthy sappiness. This was nothing like Hill House, and honestly I was fine with that, however I still expected to feel like this was meant to be a bit scary... it was after all a "The Haunting of..." movie. Instead we got a long and boring and highly predictable love story. I give it 4 stars because the show looked beautiful, the actors were mostly well suited for their parts, and there were a few characters that I did care about. Next time Netflix, advertise your shows honestly. There was not nearly enough horror or thriller in this show to make it worthy of your claims.
