Don't take this one for granted

When I watched this season during the original broadcasts, I got focused on the obvious. But after watching this season with foreknowledge, I observed some things I previously missed which isn't unexpected.

At the end of last season, I was impressed by Cote de Pablo and Ziva's complexity of emotions. That woke me up to watch Ziva more carefully even when she wasn't obviously the focus of the story. In S4E16 Ziva again shows some vulnerability especially romantically.

Throughout the season, at times Ziva shows special concern for Tony. In this episode there is an especially poignant moment after he ends a phone call with Jeanne. The first time through I was focused on Tony falling in love. I missed that Ziva might have deeper feelings for Ziva.

This episode also shows some complexity in the relationship between Gibbs and the Colonel. Well played by Harmon and Susanna Thompson.

    Nice

Good idea having a blind photographer. His photos are invaluable in solving the case.

    • Trivia
The second clue that Tony is undercover while dating Jeanne happens. When Jeanne finds an apartment for them to move into, she mentions it's not far from the hospital (where she works) and the University. Tony's cover job is a university professor.

We already knew he was undercover when he asked the director for permission to have sex with her.
    • Goofs
At ~7:24 Tony is reading Gibbs the case file for the dead officer on Ducky's table. After Tony closes the file Gibbs takes the file and opens it. If you pause, you can read Tony's script which is written in the "Records of Service" Box in the file.
    • Quotes

Army Lt. Col. Hollis Mann: [to Gibbs] No, don't... don't say it. Don't say anything. Not that you ever do anyway, but you know what, I am gonna say something. You're making a mistake. You're gonna wake up in a week or a month and you're gonna realise that you threw away something good, and it's gonna be too late. You know, I realise that there are three billion men in the world and they don't all have to want me, but you should want me. The fact that you don't, it just makes me wonder why I ever wanted you in the first place.
