I am convinced that Berenice Hansen voiced Baby-Face Rat in this Lantz Car-tune. Not enough to send it in to the IMDb as someone they should add to the cast list, but as a warning to you, because this character, in voice, design and character, look exactly like Sniffles, probably the worst character that Chuck Jones ever created in a long and mostly illustrious career -- and, yes, that includes Inki.
All right, you don't go quite that far. Let us agree to disagree and move on. Baby-Face Rat was, perhaps, one of the attempts by Lantz to create a cartoon star, now that Oswald the Lucky Rabbit was a thing of the past, Andy Panda had not taken shape, and Woody Woodpecker was not even conceived. Baby-Face Rat sits and listens to the radio, specifically a Gangbusters takeoff. Eventually, a big, growly rat comes and takes Baby-Face Rat -- have you grown tired of that name yet? Good! -- out on a spot of larceny and eventually proves to him the hard way that Crime Does Not Pay.
It's done competently in the Lantz house style, and if it were not for the thought that someone said "Yeah, Baby-Face Rat is a great name for this character" and, in effect, made a Sniffles cartoon before Chuck Jones could fail with the character, I would have nothing much to say.
Except they did. So I do.
