    The cuckoo in the nest.

Gwen returns to work after a break to find everything normal, apart from one minor detail, she doesn't recognise Torchwood member Adam, lots of strange things have happened, who or what is the root cause?

One of the show's most ambitious and boldest episodes, Adam really does offer something a little bit different, it's an amazing concept, just imagine returning to work or family life, and there's a cuckoo waiting there.

Amazing concepts, well realised, this one could have easily fallen over its own shoelaces, but it never goes too far.

That moment where Ianto was given dark memories was quite scary, can you imagine?

Loved Jack's backstory and his homeworld, I love that Welsh accents exist there.

Very good performance from Bryan Dick, he plays the part very well, and arguably steals the show.

    8/10.

    A very interesting concept

Adam was really quite a unique Torchwood episode. Captain Jack actually got some character development, which has been teased at for 18 episodes, so at least its finally happened. The set design of Jack's home planet, Boeshane Peninsula, looked visually good, and possibly the only ever good use of CGI used in Torchwood so far.

A tremendous installment - gripping, intelligent entertainment

"Adam" sounds like an episode of "Stargate SG-1" on paper with familiar faces under the influence of an alien being and acting out of character. However, it's a welcome direction for the series and it shows the cast's talent.

There are some particularly dramatic moments in this tale and the normally restrained Gareth David-Lloyd is splendid as a guilt wrapped, borderline-psychotic Ianto. It's taken me a while to warm to Ianto but there's more to him than meets the eye.

Unmissable British science fiction on a shoe-string. 9 out of 10. This series of "Torchwood" is proving to be a great improvement on the (still entertaining) original.

    Edit
    • Trivia
The opening credits are slightly altered to include the character of Adam, implying that he was a member of the team from the outset.
    • Goofs
No mention is made of retconning Rhys. Rhys not only met Adam (although not properly introduced), but he would have remembered Gwen's memory problems during those 48 missing hours that the Torchwood team had to forget, not to mention the fact that she threatened to kill him.
    • Quotes

Captain Jack Harkness: Found your diary.

Ianto Jones: Oh, yeah, I've been looking for that...

      [starts to walk away]

Captain Jack Harkness: And for the record: measuring tapes never lie.

      Ianto Jones: [silently] Fuck.

    • Crazy credits
Scenes from the episode that have Adam interacting with the team are inserted into the opening montage as if he has always been on the team.
