    Lovely movie

Overall, I enjoyed this movie. What made it worthwhile for me were the tender, soft scenes of romance between Mel and Jenny. You felt like they were really longing for each other and their relationship felt honest (despite the premise of the movie) and real. The movie really tugs at your heart-strings in a disarming way.

The scenery was simple, youthful and not flashy, which was perfect. The scene on the beach was beautiful. The whole movie felt like it was shot through a lens of sepia, blissful nostalgia.

The movie was very thoughtful and accurate in the way that it dealt with Mel's confusion regarding her sexuality and gender identity. Her discomfort and inner-turmoil was captured well and felt authentic and to lesbian/female-to-male transgender experiences.

    Minor Spoiler:

The only thing that caused me a bit of discomfort when watching this movie was the age-gap between Mel and Jenny. It was easy to root for Mel as the movie is mostly shown from her perspective. However, when the age-gap between them was revealed near the end of the movie, I felt a bit cheated. I found myself struggling to justify why Mel would pursue a 16 year old. For that reason, I was left with a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth and less sympathy for Mel.

Nevertheless, this was a good movie that touched on a lot of subjects thoughtfully. I think I also enjoyed it because it was a drama heavy on conversation and relationships between characters.

    The movie was good but...

The movie was NOT BAD actually pretty good.I don't understand German so I watched it with subtitles .It was kind of confusing but the storyline was pretty easy. This movie reminded me of this another movie named TOMBOY (2011). I was confused if the main character is representing a trans man or a lesbian but the actor playing the character is not both that was surprising for me.Don't wanna give out much spoilers but what Melanie/ Miguel did to Jenny was bad. I know she/ he was in love with her but still .I can understand the part where she/he lied about being a boy ( which is bad Ofcourse ) but lying about age was the worst. About the actors... =/ The age difference oh my goodness! even in the movie 14 and 22 like.. Ummm...no please. Even worse irl 15 and 26 ... The movie was good but I will say it EWW >_<
