Alef

Firstly the show is so different from the classical turkish tv shows. The story telling, characters, scenario, cinematography... It's so creative and I think it's one of the best example of turkish criminal series. From time to time it's losing it's tempo but then it making amends. In the final episode, I was so excited. I suggesting for everyone.

I can see why this show is different after watching 3 ep First of all the show follow's the american Rule of design the story which is new in turkey as my experiance , clearly looks like the FX Show "Fargo" and many other mini series in our time

But this is not the only reason the cinematogrphy , acting , soundtracks , the good choices of Songs thats follow the tradtions of turkey

All of this Makes this show different and i should tell you that this Show is Good for Some people thats try to enter the turkish shows or they saw other bad shows from turkey like netflix's ones "the protector"

Very good try if alef complete in the same way

After watching the 3 episodes ,I must say it does n't seem Turkish at all .So far there is mystery in every aspect of the story that makes you excited about what comes next .No weak woman ,no unnecessary love story .If you didn't hear the language ,you would think it is a good English tv series .Needless to say that the two actors playing the two detectives are really amazing .Very good so far and totally recommended .

It's reminds me True Detective Season 1.There is a similar tone.

I haven't watched a Turkish series for a long time. Most of them are repetitive, boring, unnecessarily long, and predictable. I first saw Alef back in 2020 when it was being talked about everywhere, but for some reason, I didn't watch it and somehow completely forgot about it. I finally watched it now, and honestly, it's a very good series. Apparently, there's also a second season. I'll probably watch it someday, but it has no connection at all to the first one. Different story, different cast, different writers we'd actually call it a completely different series. Even the title "Alef" belongs to the first season only, not the second. The atmosphere of Season 1 is amazing, dark, rainy, and heavy, it really reminded me of Se7en. It's like a Turkish version of Se7en. The performances are solid, especially from the veteran actors. Ahmet Mumtaz Taylan gives an excellent performance. The first seven episodes are fantastic the last one, unfortunately, is a disappointment and feels rushed. Still, the overall theme touching on Ottoman history, religion, sufism and mysticism is very well handled. It's a shame this series is underrated. With so many dull and cliché Turkish dramas around, Alef stands out as something original and bold. It really deserves to be known worldwide. Selling it to Netflix would be great for that.

Anyway, let's forget about the second season (that's a different show, my friend). Alef Season 1 is a gripping and high-quality series even if the finale falls a little short.
