Don't Look Up

10/10

Wonderfully sad

Not at all a subtle attempt at satire but rather an in-your-face, over-the-top jab at what (specifically American) society has become. I laughed and I cried and I rolled my eyes all in one smooth motion throughout the entire film because of how absolutely true it rang to me.

This movie is sure to offend anyone who is seeking nothing more than an entertainment fix and doesn't wish to take a hard, introspective look at themselves and the role they play in the destruction of humanity and the earth itself. Did the director and producers need to cast an Oscar winning lineup of actors to deliver this message? Certainly not - but by doing so I believe they captured the attention of a much larger audience. Sadly, based on a lot of the reviews I've read, it seems the message was lost on many.

I absolutely loved this movie and my takeaway was this: No matter our personal politics, religious beliefs, sense of humor or ANYTHING that serves to individualize us, all creatures of the earth are brothers and sisters and cousins and family, and that we should all have a common goal - to better ourselves for the edification of the world rather than selfishly feed the greed and hubris that threatens to destroy us all.
