Not Original Enough to Givea Good RatingTo

Two Catholic girls (Cheryl Lyone and Christina Derosa) selling Bibles knock on the wrong door and get brought into a world of drugs, violence and prostitution. Soon, it becomes apparent that they probably will not survive, at least in one piece.

The film opens up with three couples having sex, two people taking bong hits and a john getting murdered. So the first five minutes really sets the tone for the rest of the film.

The word that describes this film is either "nudity" or "exploitation" because it is both of these and nothing more. Within ten minutes, we see a fully nude Catholic girl, some naked nuns, gratuitous nudity on characters who do not even factor into the plot, and more. The nudity pretty much never stops, so if you cannot go five minutes without seeing a breast or a butt cheek, this is probably your film.

This is a low budget picture, with the expected video and sound. The closest to any stars this picture has is the kid from Rob Zombie's "Halloween". The budget is not the big problem, though -- it is the plot. We have about 80% "I Spit on Your Grave" and 20% "Last House on the Left". There is practically nothing original about this film, aside from maybe the use of a plunger for masturbating.

I did like the nurse's outfit a lot, and it turned Cheryl Lyone from average to borderline sexy (though still not my type). The acting as a whole was pretty good, though at times I felt the leader wanted to be Michael Madsen, which only made me want him to be Madsen... but we cannot always get what we want.

If you cannot get enough of "I Spit on Your Grave" and need to see more senseless violence, rape and more topless girls than spring break in my backyard, this is your film. If you are not a fan of low grade knockoffs, this will not be your cup of tea.

A not bad throwback grind house revenge flick with heart

    Some Spoilers may follow

Catherine and Rebecca are two Catholic schoolgirls, whose day takes a severe turn for the worst when they knock into the wrong home while selling bibles door to door. Running afoul of depraved pimp Lobo and his equally vicious gang, Catherine and Rebecca are defiled and Catherine is left to die. Catherine vows revenge, and resolves to make the scumbags pay for their deeds....

Run Bitch Run from the trailer looks almost like a Black Dynamite style parody of exploitation flicks, yet the film itself is actually a heartfelt homage to the genre. It's not nearly as tongue in cheek as one would think from viewing the trailer, and has some dead straight nasty scenes, including one iconic scene that will do for guys in the 00's what I Spit On Your Grave did for guys back in the '70s.

Although it suffers from a rather meandering middle and randomness,(Possibly due to budgetary constraints) it's overall a solid and entertaining enough homage to grind house trash cinema, and director Joseph Guzman is obviously an exploitation fan as he has a great eye and the film has a pretty kick ass feel for the era.

Overall, it's flawed in parts, and its biggest flaw is that it's actually rather restrained violence-wise, but it's still an enjoyable contemporary exploitation flick, and worth checking out overall for fans of the genre.

It's got a cool score and all so overall, grindhouse fans could do worse.

    revenge flick in exploitation style

What I Spit On Your Grave was for the seventies, and MS 45 for the eighties Run Bitch Run will be THE revenge movie for the, how do we call it, the first decennial of the new millennium. This is a pure revenge movie I can tell you that. so you know what that means, girls got raped, girl survive girl starts killing. Mostly the killings are done off camera so no gore galore in this flick, but that doesn't matter. It's weird enough. Were in I Spit a scene was cut in the bathroom, you geeks surely know what I mean, because it wasn't boy friendly we also have a scene here were guys will think, ooowie my ass. The only problem I had was the fact that after 45 minutes the movie slows down a bit. The scene at the bar takes a bit too long. But the acting is believable, they all have been type casted. The fact that playboygirl Christina DeRosa goes naked makes it a movie for the guys, in fact, there is a lot of frontal nudity. And included as extra on the DVD is the movie that the guy is watching at home, again, full frontal nudity. But also have a look at those faces, the bad girl, what a face, perfect casting. And the face of Cheryl Leone, man, isn't that a seventies face or what. The score is perfect too and the colors are washed too to make it a drive in flick. Be sure to watch it, it's a trip down memory lane.

Watch Something From the 70's Instead

I am a huge fan of horror and exploitation, and low budget b-movies have never been something to scare me off. Rape/Revenge is my favourite subgenre (probably because seeing the brutal revenge is almost cathartic to me, a fantasy I'll never actually enact). So when I heard Run! Bitch Run! was a modern throwback to the 70's grindhouse trash, I immediately knew I had to see this film.

The story is pretty much what you'd expect: two Catholic school girls are going door-to-door selling bibles. They knock on the wrong door and witness a pimp killing one of his girls. They become captive to the pimp and two others. After one girl dies and the other is left for dead, the surviving girl sets out for revenge.

The script, while basic, could have worked with better acting and a soundtrack that didn't sound like it was from a horrible porno. If you're watching for tits, they're on display quite frequently, but you'd be better served picking up a Playboy. Our heroine, Catherine, has a pretty nice pair and once she's naked after the rape (and later wearing a nurses' uniform), she becomes acceptably pleasant to the eye.

I cannot stress enough how poor the acting was, though. What a relief that Catherine doesn't speak throughout the entire second act. One star was added to this review for the way she gets her revenge on Lobo (the pimp). The knifing is the sole reason to watch this film. Try it with the mute on.

    Not trashy enough.

OK, I understand that this is supposed to be a throwback to the Golden Age of Grindhouse Sleaze, but it follows the recipe a little too well for my tastes. Lots of needless exposition between the few action scenes means that you lose attention (and sympathy) pretty quickly.

And like the grindhouse flicks, there's quite a bit of 'cheating' in the film. The camera always cuts away from the money shots, so you get plenty of shots of someone sticking a gun in someone else's face and then getting blood spattered on them in a reverse shot. It reminds me of something you'd see in "Sorority House Massacre."

And as far as nudity or sex, there's not really that much.

Overall, the discomfort this film might generate is pretty weak. Go see a true exploitation film, like "Hanger," if you want to see this sort of thing done to the extreme.

Lobo: We're gonna play a little game. Clint and I like to call it "Find 'Em and Fuck 'Em". It's kinda like Hide 'N Seek, but not. It's better. It's a lot better. You're gonna go run somewhere and pray I don't find you. "Cause when I find you, I'm gonna fuck you. I'm gonna spray my whipped cream all over that sundae. All over that cherry.

Lobo: All right, it's a run. What are you waiting for, a starting gun? Bang. Run.

Lobo: Here I come! Run, bitch, run! RUN, BITCH, RUN! RUN, BITCH, RUN!
