Entertaining and fun show to chill too
If u are looking for a show to watch and chill with while u are organizing drawers, doing laundry, etc this is a great one to choose! There isn't an intense storyline or any unnecessary drama for effect, it's just a calming but good show. There are some really loveable characters that make you hope they make a follow up episode like the teacher from Austin, Tx. He was so loveable and sweet! I couldn't imagine anyone NOT wanting him in their family! He's overcome so much in life, and is still able to laugh at himself, enjoy other people, and he seems to just take life in stride! He's definitely someone I wish I had as a friend! I'd never set him up with anyone bc if they hurt him I would feel like the devil. Then there are high maintenance, over-the-top, egocentric characters like the chic from Houston. And as a fellow woman, I believe we should always help woman rise whenever possible, but it is hard with this one! She and her mother don't see some of the ridiculous requests they make and the irony in them!for example when she goes on a date with a lawyer, her profession also, she judges him for not just liking the law, but loving it! And then she says she wants someone who travels and is well versed in geographical knowledge and when she asks about the places he has been he makes a list and then she mentions a family member who lives in Dubai and she scoffs at it! She actually finds it odd that someone who wants to vacation there, even though it's one of the top 5 vacation spots in the world, and challenges him when he rebuts her statement about Dubai being a traveler's common goal to visit. But later that poor man who had to endure his date from Houston hell gets set up on a lovely wedding coordinator from Jersey. They hit it off and their laughter proves that this matchmaking skill was imperative in helping them find happiness.
This show shows the wide range of matchmaking that is offered for its extremely diverse clientele. It's not just about people who have no choice in getting married and are getting set up together with no concern for the couples happiness. There are couples that were the matchmaking of Day's gone by who share fun stories and their dynamic and love between each other after being married for decades after only meeting on their wedding day! So absurd as this seems to most of us who have been raised with a Western mindset, this show does a beautiful job of showing the beauty in other cultures and other traditions. I think we can definitely say one thing about the health of western marriages and it's failed 50% divorce rate, we have so much to learn!! The he downside of this show is that there isn't a follow up episode once the season is over. It would be nice to checkout Audacious Austin and Not so Humble Houston and see where they are now on their journey for a life partner. I also wish they would have organized it a little different bc it gets confusing-one second the Matchmaker is in India then she is in Chicago! I like that we get to see the differences in Western Indians as compared to Indians in their homeland, but it got confusing how often they were mixed up without a smooth transition! We also don't need as many camera angles on the b roll, bc it just highlights how much of this production is "over produced" keeping it from feeling organic. But that's just being extremely nitpicky! Either way, if u are stuck at home doing laundry or cleaning, this show will hold ur interest without demanding all of it!
